For this sequence of images, Lloyd did a remarkable job of capturing the joy I felt during the shoot. I wanted to highlight this green stone ring that my best friend, Makelsa, gifted me a couple years back. He got it in Atlanta. I am constantly asked about it and complimented on. It truly has become one of my staples in what I wear every day- feeling lost when I forget to put on. Pictured, I stack it with a gold-plated brass ring.
There's something really dope to me about layering brown on top of brown skin. The richness that it emotes solidifies a pride in skin tone. Oftentimes viewed as a taboo trend, I make it a point to look for that stand-out brown piece when I shop. There are so many hues of brown on the colour scale. Don't be afraid to try one out on yourself. I found this long-sleeved, linen/cotton blend crew at VINCE. It is the perfect fabrication for the climate here in NYC. It's very lightweight & breathable, and it stretches with you which is very important in terms of comfortability. Sometimes the trains are so air conditioned in the summer, this piece just makes sense.
